Details

Do you have a special occasion coming up, having a private party or maybe just a gathering and want to serve real ale in the comfort of your own home? Then why not buy a barrel of beer from us? You can even hire the handpull free of charge. With 6 permanent ales to choose from and a monthly changing seasonal specials it’s easier than you think to have a cracking pint of Old Mill ale for you and your guests. Q & A How much beer will I need? We supply our barrels in either a 4.5 gallon barrel (36 pints) or a 9 gallon barrel (72 pins) so you need to decided, how many guests are you serving? How many drink real ale? How much do they normally drink on a night out? From there you should be able to calculate how many barrels you will need. Still not sure, contact us here. Do you deliver? We only deliver to certain areas on certain days to within approx. 30 mile radius from the brewery. So if you can get to us then you can pick it up when it’s more convenient and you also get to visit our Brewery and the stunning market town of Snaith. We’re open from 8.00am until 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. How do you open it? It’s easier than you think and we’ve supplied thousands of barrels to private functions where no-one’s ever ‘tapped’ a barrel before. We can talk you through this over the phone when you place your order and if you’re collecting your barrel we’ll guide you through it again. We’ll give you everything you need including taps and pegs and you can even hire the handpull free of charge.* I’ve heard you have to let the beer settle? All our real is ale is cask conditioned meaning once in position you must leave it in place for a minimum of 24 hours so that any leftover sediment will settle to the bottom of the barrel giving you a nice clear pint. However for convenience we do offer a re-racking service for a small charge. This removes all the sediment from the cask and requires no settling time. It also means nothing will be disturbed if the barrel gets knocked or rolled while everyone is enjoying ‘pulling their own pint’. How long it will last? Once you’ve opened or ‘tapped’ the barrel you expose air to the product causing it to degrade. Therefore it wil need to be drunk within 3-4 days or the beer will start to turn sour. I’ve still got more questions!! Then contact us here and we’ll be happy to help you over the phone and take your order, it’s so easy and much cheaper than you may think! *When buying a barrel of beer with or without a handpull then we do take a deposit and require the barrel/s and handpull/s returned at which point you will receive your deposit back.
